This article elucidates several classical methods for solving problems that are more complex than those usually considered in school mathematics lessons - logarithms, using the monotonicity of a specially selected function, and the maximum-minimum method. Also, significant attention is paid to the completeness and logic of solutions, because mathematics test tasks mainly test standard technical mathematical skills, which is not enough for successful study in higher education institutions, especially in mathematical (including IT), engineering, natural science and economic specialties.
