Purpose and tasks
The main purpose of the publication "In the World of Mathematics" (hereinafter referred to as the Journal) is to create a professional platform for the publication of original scientific research in the field of mathematical sciences that contribute to the development of fundamental and applied mathematics, as well as the integration of Ukrainian mathematical thought into the world scientific space.
Preserving the historical continuity and traditions of education, the Journal directs its activities to the publication of the results of theoretical and applied research that have scientific novelty and theoretical significance in the field of knowledge E "Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics" in the specialties E7 "Mathematics" and E8 "Statistics", highlighting modern methods of mathematical modeling in the natural, technical and humanities sciences, publishing thorough review articles that systematize knowledge from classical and modern sections of mathematics, contributing to the professional growth of young scientists. The journal focuses on the popularization of high science, transforming complex mathematical concepts into forms accessible to a professional and young audience (for young researchers, postgraduates, students, schoolchildren), in order to attract young people to active scientific activity and independent research work. The journal provides academic unity - professional orientation and support for the connection between fundamental science and educational practice, ensuring high quality of the evidence base and logical rigor of the materials.
In particular, in the block "Theoretical and Applied Aspects of Mathematics" we publish works on the latest achievements in mathematics, innovative technologies, on the application of mathematics in various fields of natural science, engineering, and social sciences. We pay special attention to the application of mathematics in solving problems of economics and financial mathematics. We will actively promote the development of efforts aimed at forming the economic competence of young mathematicians so that they can creatively apply mathematical methods in solving complex problems of economics.
One of the main tasks of the Journal is considered by the editorial board to be the development of readers' creative abilities, their involvement in active creative work. In the thematic block "Original Results and Mathematical Modeling" we publish new results of our authors in the field of mathematics and mathematical modeling.
The thematic block "History and Methodology of Mathematics" is dedicated to the historical aspect of the development of mathematics, where famous Ukrainian mathematicians share their thoughts on mathematics, its role in the processes of cognition, its past, present and future. Here we tell about the anniversaries of outstanding Ukrainian mathematicians, introduce their works, and also publish a series of interviews with the most prominent Ukrainian mathematicians.
The thematic block "Modern Methods and Technologies of Mathematics Education" will be useful for mathematics teachers, methodologists, lecturers and students of higher education institutions, as well as for everyone who is interested in the issues of teaching mathematics. The studies in this block contain works devoted to the peculiarities of special and general mathematics teaching methods, reveal modern trends and innovations in mathematics teaching methods, and summarize the advanced pedagogical experience of practicing teachers.
In the block "Scientific discussions: problems and hypotheses", in addition to the formulation of unsolved problems, analytical reviews of the current state of known hypotheses, the results of computer experiments indicating new mathematical regularities, as well as materials of professional discussions on priority areas of development of modern mathematics and its applications are published.
In the thematic block "Mathematical competitions and research problems", we publish innovative results of the work of our readers. We present selections of problems that were proposed at international Olympiads and mathematical tournaments of various levels.
In the block "Chronicle and International Reviews" we inform our readers about the main events in the mathematical life of Ukraine and abroad, provide information about congresses, conferences, meetings on mathematical education. We plan to regularly publish articles on the state of higher and pre-higher education in different countries of the world
In the block "Creative Mathematics" we publish innovative results of our readers' work. We invite the youngest readers of our magazine to get acquainted with the materials of this block. It is at a young age that mathematical abilities are revealed and developed. The editorial board always strives to ensure that the materials of this block are interesting and accessible.
The supplements to the Journal will include thematic blocks “Mathematical Olympiads”, where we will present selections of problems that were offered at Olympiads and mathematical tournaments of various levels – from international Olympiads to open competitive competitions of individual universities and lyceums, the block “Mathematical Circle”, which will contain articles, each of which can be the material for one or two classes of the mathematical circle, and the block “Our Reviews”, where we inform our readers about new publications in mathematics, we publish reviews of these publications by leading experts.
