Requirements for the structure and content of the article

The requirements for the structure and content of the article comply with the provisions of the National Standard of Ukraine DSTU 7152:2020. Edition. Formatting of publications in journals and collections and the Recommendations of the EANR (European Association of Scientific Editors) for authors and translators of scientific articles in English. Submission files are documents in MS Wofs or LaTeX and pdf formats.

Elements of the article design

UDC index.
Digital publication identifier (DOI).
Information about the author(s).
Title of the article.
Abstract.
Keywords.
Main text of the article.
Information about the contribution of the authors.
Acknowledgements, sources of funding.
List of sources used.
Dates of receipt and editorial and publishing processing of the article.

UDC index. The Information and Bibliographic Department of the M. Maksimovich Scientific Library provides paid services for determining the UDC index. The service can be obtained in room 24 of the Scientific Library, or by calling: (044) 239-33-53 (33-53), or by writing to bibliograflib@gmail.com, in which you should indicate your name, surname, position, title of the article and an annotation to it.

The digital publication identifier (DOI) is assigned by the Publisher. The DOI identifier is placed on the same line as the UDC index.

Information about the author(s). The order of authors must be determined before submitting the manuscript (see "Authorship and co-authorship"). Any changes made after submitting the manuscript must be approved by all authors. The author information should include the following elements:

first name, last name;
academic degree, academic title;
position;
main place of work or study at the time of the research (name of the institution or organization);
city, country;
corporate e-mail of the author(s);
unique identifier of the author of the research ORCID ID.

Authors should indicate their affiliation with a specific institution as provided on the official website of their institution. In communication with the journal editorial office, it is necessary to use their official corporate e-mail. Abbreviations in the names of academic degrees, academic titles and positions in Ukrainian and English should be submitted in accordance with Table 1.

The title of the article should be unambiguous, understandable to specialists in other fields, informative and specific: 5–9 words that correspond to the content of the article. The title cannot contain phrases such as “Research on the issue…”, “Some questions…”, “Problems…”, etc.

Abstract. The abstract should reflect the content of the article, since for many readers it will be the key source of information about your research (most databases contain only the title and abstract).

The abstract of an original research article should be structured and informative, comply with the IMRAD structure and contain the following points:

relevance;
aim and objectives;
methods;
results;
conclusions.

The length of the abstract is not less than 1,000 characters and not more than 2,500 characters (with spaces).

The abstract of a review article can be unstructured, indicative, it should highlight the main points of the review. Length – 100-150 words.

Keywords. For an original research article, four to eight keywords should be provided; for a review article – three to six. Keywords should not repeat the title of the article.

Information about the title of the article, information about the author(s), abstract and keywords of the article in English for Ukrainian-language articles or in Ukrainian for English-language articles is provided at the end of the article after the list of sources used.

Main text of the article

VOLUME OF THE MAIN TEXT. Original research article – from 3 thousand to 8 thousand words, review article – from 2 thousand to 5 thousand words.

ARTICLE STRUCTURE. An original research article should be prepared using the IMRAD structure and contain the following main elements:

introduction;
literature review;
methodology;
results;
discussion and conclusions.

Detailed requirements for each of the specified structural elements of the article are given in the EANR (European Association of Science Editors) Recommendations for Authors and Translators of Scientific Articles in English).

The review article should also be prepared using the IMRAD structure without the “Methodology” section.

ILLUSTRATIONS, TABLES. All figures (schemes, graphs, diagrams, etc.) and tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals and placed directly in the text, where they should be in the content (and not on at the end of the document).

Figures should be given explanatory captions (under the figure, in a separate paragraph), and tables should be given thematic titles (above the table, in a separate paragraph). Captions and titles should reflect the content of the figures and tables, be concise and informative. Each figure or table should be referenced in the main text of the article and its serial number should be indicated, for example: (Fig. 1), (Table 2).

If the article is accepted, authors upload separate high-resolution files of all figures in .tif or .jpg formats. File names for infographics should be self-explanatory and match the titles in the text (e.g. Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure3, etc.). Image resolution: 1,200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale, and 300 dpi for color.

Mathematical formulas in the text should be aligned "Centered". All formulas to which references are made should be numbered and should have appropriate references in parentheses, for example, formula (1). The indentation before and after each formula, which is written on a separate line, is 1 paragraph.

DEFINITIONS, THEOREMS, LEMMAS, STATEMENTS, EXAMPLES, PROBLEMS, if there are several of them, should have separate numbering. When designing them, the type of mathematical object should be highlighted in bold and its formulation in italics. The proof of a statement (theorem, lemma) begins with the word "Proof.", which is written in italics. The end of the proof is marked with a separate line containing a black square (∎) sign, aligned to the right margin.

For problems, the beginning of the solution is highlighted accordingly with the word “Solution:” written in italics. Each problem should end with an answer, which is written in a separate paragraph and begins with the word “Answer:”, written in italics. Underlining of the text is not allowed (except in special mathematical notes and electronic addresses of references). Indentation before and after formulations is 1 paragraph each.

Information about the contribution of the authors

Information about the contribution of the authors to the preparation of the article should be indicated in accordance with CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy):

Conceptualization. Ideas; formulation or evolution of the overarching goals and objectives of the research.
Formal analysis. Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal methods to analyze or synthesize empirical research data.
Software. Programming, software development; computer program design; implementation of computer code and supporting algorithms; testing of code components.
Methodology. Development or design of methodology; creation of models.
Data validation. Verification of reproducibility of results/experiments and other research results.
Writing — original draft. Writing the initial version (draft) of the article.
Writing — review and editing. Making significant changes, additions to the article.

For example:

Name, surname — conceptualization, methodology;

Name, surname — writing — review and editing.

Acknowledgements, funding sources

Mention all people who made a significant contribution to the research, but are not co-authors: coordinated the implementation of the research activity, provided resources (research materials, educational and/or student teams, laboratory samples, instruments, computing resources or other analysis tools).

List all sources of funding. Recommended form: “This work was supported by the Civilian Research and Development Fund (CRDF Global) (grant number xxxx)”. If there was no specific funding, write the following sentence: “This research did not receive any grant from a financial institution in the public, commercial or non-profit sectors”. List of sources used

Bibliographic entries in the list of bibliographical references are given according to the bibliographic citation style APA style references (7th Edition).

Sources in the list of used sources are not numbered and are presented alphabetically.

In the article in English, ONE list of used sources is provided – References, in which the bibliographic description of sources in non-Roman script (Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, etc.) is given in English translation, at the end of the bibliographic description in square brackets in English the language of the source is indicated: [in Ukrainian], [in Chinese], etc. and the bibliographic description in the language of the source is added in square brackets. For example:

In the article in Ukrainian, a list of sources used is given in the original language (bibliographic descriptions are submitted according to the bibliographic citation style APA style reference). Bibliographic descriptions of sources in non-Roman script (Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, etc.) are submitted in translation into English and the source language is indicated at the end of the bibliographic description in square brackets in English: [in Ukrainian], [in Chinese], etc. For example:

Format of references to sources in the text

In-text references are submitted in parentheses indicating:

the author's surname (if there is only one author) or the first words of the title of the work (for publications without authors), the year of publication in a comma and, if necessary, the pages after the abbreviation "s." (in Ukrainian) or "p." (in English. The title of the work can be abbreviated, and omitted words should be marked with an ellipsis):

(Arber, 2020), (Arber, 2020, p. 147), (Arber, 2019, pp. 60–65), (Scientific Heritage…, 2019, p. 95), (Shevchenko, 2021, pp. 194–195);

surnames of all co-authors (if there are no more than three authors), year of publication:

(Wolf, Dormus, Brown, 2018);

surnames of only the first co-author, abbreviation “et al.” or “et al.”, year of publication (if there are more than three authors):

(Grady et al., 2017), (Pisarenko et al., 2021);

author's surname and initials, year of publication (if the article contains references to works by authors with the same surname, published in the same year):

(Brown A., 2010);

author's surname, year of publication of the first work, year of publication of the next work (if the article contains references to works by the same author, published in different years, the author's surname is not duplicated):

(Hamilton, 2012, p. 121; 2015, pp. 83–88);

author's surname, year of publication, lowercase Latin letter after the year of publication (if the article contains references to works by the same author, published in the same year):

(Gibson, 2019a; 2019b; 2019c);

indicating the number or name (if there is no number) of the part of the electronic source (volume, part, section, etc.) after the year of publication, if the pages are not numbered.

References to multiple sources at the same time are given through a semicolon in alphabetical order by the first letter of the author's surname of each source or the title of the work for publications without an author. For example, researchers studied a specific problem: (Freeberg, 2019; Grady et al., 2019).

The main part of the references in the publication should be to authoritative sources within the last 5–7 years of publication. It is desirable that the list of references consists of at least 30% of articles published in rated journals indexed in the scientometric databases Scopus and/or Web of Science. Self-citations should not exceed 25% of the total number of cited sources.

ATTENTION! Information about the title of the article, information about the author(s), an abstract (at least 800 characters) and keywords of the article in English for Ukrainian-language articles or in Ukrainian for English-language articles are submitted at the end of the article after the list of sources used and the dates of editorial and publishing processing of the article.

Procedure for submission and review of publications

The editorial board of the journal accepts for consideration original articles that have not been published previously and are not under consideration in other publications. The submission process consists of the following stages:

Preparatory stage (Requirements for the manuscript)

Before sending, the author must make sure that the material meets the technical requirements of the journal:

Formatting. The manuscript is prepared in the LaTeX or MS Word system according to the journal template and in PDF format.

Metadata. Availability of the title, abstract (in Ukrainian and English) and keywords.

Identification. Full names of authors, their affiliations (place of work), contact details and ORCID identifiers.

List of sources used. Formatted according to the standard described above with mandatory indication of DOI for sources, where possible.

Submission of materials

Submission is carried out through the electronic journal management system or by sending a package of documents to the official email address of the editorial office:

Text of the article (in .pdf and .tex/.doc formats).
Cover letter in which the authors confirm the originality of the work and the absence of a conflict of interest.
Graphic files (if any) in high resolution.

Primary control

Within 5–7 working days, the responsible secretary of the editorial office checks:

Compliance of the article with the thematic profile of the journal.
Compliance with the requirements for design.
Presence of plagiarism using specialized software (for example, StrikePlagiarism or Unicheck).

Note: If the article does not meet the formal requirements, it is returned to the author on revision without scientific review.

Scientific review

The journal uses a two-way "blind" review procedure:

The manuscript is sent to two independent experts in the relevant field of mathematics.
Reviewers evaluate scientific novelty, correctness of mathematical proofs and quality of presentation.
The review period is usually from 4 to 8 weeks.

Editorial decision

Based on the reviewers' conclusions, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:

Accept the article without changes.
Send for revision (Minor/Major revision) - the author must take into account the comments and return the corrected text.
Reject publication (Reject) - in case of detection of significant errors or lack of scientific novelty.

Preparation for publication

After the final acceptance of the article:

Literary editing and proofreading. Checking of linguistic literacy and mathematical typography.
Layout. Providing the author with a proof for final approval.
Assigning a DOI. Registering a digital object identifier.

Publication

The article is included in the next print and electronic issue of the journal in open access.

Authors can receive information about the current status of their manuscript by contacting the editorial office.
